Lashings Hotel Announces Expansion
Updated: Aug 25, 2020
Popular south coast hotel Lashings is expanding its portfolio, with a new addition to its tourist offering. The boutique resort is to take over the running of a suite of villas on the beach near Old Wharf and Calabash Bay, a secluded part of Treasure Beach known for its attractive fishing boats and stunning sea views.
The villa suites, formally known as Marblue, will be renamed Lashings Beach Club and will offer a high end vacation experience. Guests will have direct access to the pool and sandy cove for swimming and also enjoy cook-outs by the beach. It will also be an extra facility for visitors staying in the main Lashings Hotel in Sandy Bank.
Lashings owner David Folb said: “This is an exciting development for us, as it means we can now offer our guests a beautiful beach location, alongside our already well established rooms and villas in the hills above Treasure Beach. We have plans to open a restaurant and bar there, so visitors staying nearby will also have access to yet another outstanding destination to eat out in Treasure Beach.
“We will be totally renovating the property so that ultimately we can offer a high end exclusive beach club experience. The advantage being in Treasure Beach there are no crowded beaches and no scramble for sunloungers!”
Built by German architect and chef Axel Wichterich, Marblue was the winner of TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Award in 2019/20 and has been in operation for more than 16 years. Each of the feng shui inspired villas have views of the Caribbean Sea and are furnished in authentic Jamaican style, with names such as Papaya and Pineapple. Mr Wichterich and his wife Andrea are planning to retire and will remain in the Treasure Beach area.
